Melek Pulatkonak is the Founder and Curator of the Turkish Women’s International Network. Most recently, she worked at Microsoft’s Global Startup Business Team and held the Developer and Platform Evangelism Lead position at Microsoft Turkey. Before that she was the President & COO of Hakia, a semantic technology company in New York. Before joining hakia, she was the Associate Partner of Star Venture Group (SVG). Prior to her work at SVG, she was the Advisor to the Chairman of the Istanbul Stock Exchange and a Research Associate at the New York Stock Exchange. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a B.Sc. degree from London School of Economics and Political Science.

Yadigar Gökalp İlhan is the President and Board Member in Social Security Institution. She was born in Artvin, Yusufeli, on 1967. She has received her bachelor’s degree in the Middle East Technical University on the field of Psychological Counseling and Guidance and her master’s degree on the field of Gender and Woman Studies. At present she is getting her master’s degree in METU, in the school of Business Administration, on the field of Management for Administrators. She started her working career in private sector in 1988. She worked abroad (USA-California) as a crisis consultant between the years 1994-1996. She introduced and implemented new social assistance programs to Turkey such as Conditional Cash Transfers and Local Initiatives Programs for vulnerable people of Turkey. Still 3.5 million children are benefiting from these programs and continuing school and 10.000 projects were implemented throughout Turkey and 500 thousand poor people had participated to labour market. She was awarded as the “Best Directorate General of 2009” and the “Bureaucrat of the Year” in 2010. She is also the “Founder President Women Managers and Workers Solidarity Association”. She has good command of English, and knows German and Arabic at intermediate level.

Ahu Özyurt is currently the Chief Writer and Senior Correspondent at CNN Turk in Istanbul. She writes a weekly column on Hurriyet Daily News. Before returning to CNN Turk she also worked as a Deputy News Director of Bloomberg HT Television. Ms. Ozyurt was the Washington Correspondent of CNN Turk and Milliyet Newspaper between 2007-2009. Ms. Ozyurt holds Master of Science degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a B.A from Bogazici University’s School of Administrative Sciences. She had her internship in Meet the Press in Washington DC in 1992 and CNN International in Atlanta. Prior to her post in Washington DC, Ozyurt was the 11:00 pm anchor of CNN Turk’s show “Night Vision” (2003-2006) and lunchtime anchor of CNN Turk’s show “Business Lunch” (2006-2007) She also worked at NTV and CNBC-e as anchor and reporter (1998-2003) Between 1993-97 she also travelled extensively to Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Israel as Show TV’s Ankara correspondent. Ms. Ozyurt has been specializing on İnternational affairs, defense and energy issues and financial crises. She was one of the leading anchors of CNBC-e in Turkey covering the financial crisis in Turkey and its political ramifications. Her book on the Obama Presidential campaign which chronicled the primary and the Presidential Elections through the eyes of a grassroots volunteer, “Obama: A Perfect Storm” was published in Turkey in October 2008. Ms. Ozyurt’s latest book “Night Vision” is a compilation of news stories from 10 different cities including Washington DC, Arbil, Tehran, Rome, Diyarbakir etc.

Bilge Demirköz is an Associate Professor at METU in Ankara, Turkey. She is originally from Istanbul, Turkey. After graduating from high school, Robert College of Istanbul, she went to MIT and did her bachelor’s in physics with minors in music and math and followed that up with master’s degree in particle physics. During that time, she worked on the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer AMS project, which was installed on the International Space Station ISS in May 2011. She did her D.Phil. at Oxford University, working at CERN on ATLAS Semi-Conductor Tracker (SCT). She was a CERN Research Fellow working on the ATLAS High Level Trigger for two years and then a visitor at University of Cambridge for six months. She spent a year as a researcher with IFAE Barcelona, working on jet trigger, jet analysis with first data from the LHC! She carried the Olympic flame on July 6th, 2004 in Uskudar, Istanbul.
